Nigerian federal universities are currently on hold and as nature abhors vacuum, students find themselves having to engage in extra curriculum activities. These activities include but are not limited to sports, music, crafts, learning technological or traditional skills, starting businesses and working from home.

Just before the break, I chose to apply for the Learnable’20 program in order to sharpen my tech skills and help further my career. Learnable’20 is a bootcamp: an intensive paid internship centered on helping young techies and enthusiasts to learn how to code and improve their business, sales, pitching, communication and technological skills. They achieve this by bringing these techies together, grouping them into teams, and teaching them by what I will call a lead-by-example method.

How I got in is amazing and I’m certain that with the right attitude, skills and lots of determination, anyone too can get in. Learnable is a six-month learning phase of awesomeness. Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the first three months were done virtually. The physical internship started in November and we are already in the middle of the build season and are about to wrap things up.

The wonderful thing about the Learnable internship in the creativity. Learnable is an arm of Genesys who is the child company to Tenece professional services. In a tech space like this, you are set to meet a whole lot of people already in tech. and as you interact with them, their story helps shape yours. You learn from them what to do and what mistakes to avoid.

So far, I have learned and I have also become a better version of myself.

Although the work is intensive, it hasn’t been all work for me. I have connected with and made new friends like Joshua, Chidie, Ekene, Kachi, Jerry, David among others. You could get to know and connect to them at https://www.linkedin.com/in/kesandu-uchenyi-83b7bb151/

Thus, Learnable ’20 has been quite the experience for me as it has marked a major milestone in my life. I am certain that in the years to come, I would look back and be proud that I was a part of this internship program because of how far the things I am learning will take me and help shape my life.
